You can have a gas or steam turbine as a compressor or in your power plant as a generator and its doing its job as it should, however from the moment you start using it, it´s components start to wear. This gas/steam turbine is what you expected, however it also expects something from you if you want to keep your gas/steam turbine reliable.
Every turbine is critical to every application. At some moment you will have maintenance costs that you wish you could have avoided, but you have to act on it, otherwise you risk your application to break down.
Frequently the cause of these failures is damaged bearings which are caused due to bad lubrication. According to the manufacturers of steam and gas turbines these bearings need an oil cleanliness of NAS 6(?) or better. Standard filtration will already give you a certain cleanliness, however getting a NAS 6 (?) or a more better result is feasible only if you condition your oil by using deep filtration in a by-pass set-up supporting the standard filtration. By conditioning your oil you will not only reduce your maintenance costs, but also reduce your CO2 footprint due to your oil lifetime extension. Many of our customers extended their lubrication- oil life 5 to 7 times and their hydraulic oil is still the same oil as they had when we introduced deep filtration 30 years ago in their company due to conditioning their oil with our bypass filter equipment. .
